Shepherd’s Pie Baked Potatoes combine two comfort food favorites into one hearty dish. Fluffy baked potatoes are stuffed with savory minced meat filling and topped with creamy mashed potatoes for a warm, satisfying meal.

  • 4 large baking potatoes

  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup peas and carrots
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ¼ cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Lamb is traditional for shepherd’s pie; beef works well too
  • Russet potatoes are best for baking
  • Tomato paste adds richness to the filling
  • Don’t overcook filling—it should stay slightly saucy

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Bake the Potatoes

  • Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F)
  • Rub potatoes with oil and salt
  • Bake for 45–50 minutes until soft inside

2. Prepare Meat Filling

  • Cook onion and garlic in a pan
  • Add ground meat and brown well
  • Stir in tomato paste, broth, peas, carrots, and seasoning
  • Simmer for 10 minutes

3. Prepare Potato Filling

  • Cut baked potatoes in half lengthwise
  • Scoop out most of the inside into a bowl
  • Mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper

4. Assemble

  • Fill potato skins with meat mixture
  • Top with mashed potatoes

5. Bake Again

  • Bake for 10–15 minutes until golden on top
