 Pizza Burger Pie

Serves: 6–8
Prep: 15 min
Bake: 20–25 min

Ingredients

Crust / Base

  • 1 can (16 oz / 450 g) refrigerated buttermilk biscuits (8 count)
Or 1 can crescent roll dough sheet, or 1 tube pizza dough

Filling

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (80/20)

  • ½ cup diced onion

  • ½ cup diced green bell pepper (optional)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup pizza sauce (or marinara)

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning

  • ½ cup sliced pepperoni (mini or regular, chopped)

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

Topping

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 tsp dried oregano or parsley

Optional Garnish

  • Fresh basil or parsley

  • Red pepper flakes

Instructions

1. Preheat & Prep

Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Grease a 9-inch pie dish or deep-dish pie plate, or a 9×9 square baking dish.

2. Make the Crust

  • Press biscuit dough evenly onto the bottom and up the sides of the dish, pinching seams together to form one solid crust.

  • (If using crescent dough sheet — just unroll and press in.)

  • Bake crust alone for 5 minutes (optional but prevents soggy bottom). Remove from oven.

3. Cook the Filling

  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef with onion, bell pepper, and garlic until beef is browned and vegetables soften. Drain excess fat.

  • Stir in pizza sauce, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning. Simmer 2 minutes.

  • Remove from heat. Stir in chopped pepperoni.

4. Assemble the Pie

  • Spread beef mixture evenly into the pre-baked crust.

  • Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar on top.

5. Top It (Optional But Awesome)

  • For a stuffed crust edge: Sprinkle extra cheese around the rim and fold dough over slightly.

  • For a lattice or biscuit top: Flatten remaining biscuits and arrange on top, or just leave open-faced.

6. Bake

  • Bake 20–25 minutes until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly.

  • Sprinkle Parmesan and oregano on top during last 5 minutes.

7. Rest & Serve

Let sit 5–10 minutes before slicing (so it holds together). Garnish with fresh basil.
